Falcon Academies

My name is Zane Anderson and I coach the GFS baseball academy.  I played baseball throughout my youth in the Strathmore Reds program. I attended Vauxhall Baseball Academy in high school from which I received a baseball & academic scholarship to college in Pennsylvania.  Post-graduation I took a business & coaching position at Vauxhall Baseball Academy.  I also became a regional scout for the Boston Red Sox in the Alberta area.  From this experience within a school setting, I decided to become a teacher. After moving back to the Strathmore area to begin my teaching career I coached a competitive travel team that competed in tournaments throughout western Canada, New York, Utah, Nevada, Washington, Alaska & Tennesse.  

The baseball academy at GFS allows students to develop their baseball skills during the winter months.  Offensive & defensive skills are developed inside the Strathmore Motors Sports Center facility.   Interpersonal skills such as character, teamwork, determination, and perseverance are also valued and built within the program.

Mr. Sergent was drafted in 1999 by the Florida Marlins in the 21st round and played five years in the organization as a pitcher. In his total 12 year professional career, the left handed pitcher had a regular season record of 64-33 with a 3.87 ERA as well as two league championships under his belt (2001, 2009). Mr. Sergent will be working primarily on throwing and pitching during the  8 weeks.  He also has contributed to the development of Okotoks Dawgs players from the grassroots to collegiate level for the last four years, including winning a WCBL championship as a coach in 2019.

Our Soccer Academy at George Freeman is a developmental program that includes students with a large range in age and experience. With this in mind, our goal for this skills-based program is to improve individual soccer abilities and for players to have opportunities to learn in game-based situations. We do not compete in any league play, and the expectation is for students to show up with a positive attitude and prepared to work hard, regardless of their current experience with the sport. Players are divided into groups for sessions based on a number of factors including age, grade, size and years of playing experience. 

My name is Kaitlyn Diduck and my background in soccer includes 5 years of varsity at two universities in Alberta - the University of Lethbridge, and Concordia University of Edmonton. At Concordia, we medalled 3 of my four years, were ranked as high as second nationally and earned our way to nationals in 2015. I captained three of these years and was named an All-Conference athlete in my first and third year. I have also worked as a grassroots coach for Alberta Soccer since 2016 and have multiple NCCP Coaching Certifications. I absolutely love continuing to help youth develop their soccer skills and their character through this unique program offered at George Freeman.

Jaclyn Down provides private piano lessons to students who enroll in the Music Academy. Students receive a 30 minute lesson once per week for 8 weeks. Students of all levels, from complete beginners with no music experience to accomplished pianists, participate in the music academy.
