Hello Falcons! My name is Joe Sergent and I grew up in Manteca, California. I played baseball all my life and was lucky enough to get drafted to the Florida Marlins as a pitcher in the 21st round of the 1999 MLB First Year Player Draft.  After playing for 4 different organizations over a 12 year professional career, winning 2 championships and having a 64-33 record with a 3.87 ERA in over 800 innings, I pursued my career into education and graduated from University of Calgary in 2019.  I will be going into my second year here at George Freeman School and truly believe that establishing healthy relationships between staff and students can translate into maximizing inclusive learning for all in the classroom. When I am not teaching, you can find me on the baseball field in Okotoks where I am the pitching coach for the Okotoks Dawgs Summer Collegiate Baseball Team.  I also am father to a year old baby girl, Maia, and married to my wife, Lauren, who is also a teacher in Calgary.
