With the holiday break over, teachers and students are back in the classrooms hitting the books and learning new things. One teacher, in particular, gets some extra special attention this month as Jill McDonald from George Freeman School is recognized as our December Teacher of the Month!
A bunch of nominations came in from the community that said, Jill McDonald helped build and organize the opening of a new school. She began the process and remains an active member of a fundraising group for the playground of the new school. She remains a master teacher in the junior high division of the school and does all she can to help promote the values of good character and community involvement. She is so high energy and remains such a positive person, and the students have really benefited from her great teaching, excellent assessment skills, and her behaviour management.
Jill McDonald was very surprised when we presented her the award and said she felt very honoured! She said that there are so many amazing teachers in Strathmore so to be selected as Teacher of the Month is really meaningful. This is Ms. McDonald's twelfth year of teaching and says her favourite part is the kids because they say things that can crack you up and you never know what is going to happen. Every day is different, the energy and the fun you can have while also teaching the kids something new is pretty cool.
Congratulations Ms. McDonald on being our December Teacher of the Month! To nominate a teacher in our community, check out https://strathmorenow.com/teacher-of-the-month
